Week 12: Final Hot Sauce Box Design

From my previous post I had mentioned that the box came together nicely, but the only flaw was that the sauce was only able to fit in the box it force was applied to it and when it was in the box it was not able to close because the cap of the sauce made the hot sauce more taller. After adjusting the measurements and adding a couple more things to my box in the end it was able to function properly.
To my surprise the box was able to shut nicely and have a tight lid to ensure that the sauce was not going to fall out of the box. After I had put it all together I saw that even though the box closed properly I saw that there was a gap that did not let the lid close straight. The lid would close on a tilt, I wanted the lid to close straight so what I ended up doing was look for scraps of wood that were laying around the wood shop to recycle the parts the my fellow classmates were not using. After looking in a drawer for about 15 minutes I found 3 small pieces that would balance out the lid so it can close properly. I glued those 3 pieces onto the top of the box (not the lid) and then I sanded it down to see where the lid would land nice to make it look parellel to the pieces I added onto the box.

After our critique session I was able to learn more techniques that my classmates used on their own boxes that I can probably use in the future if I ever get to create a box some where else. The different techniques and thinking process that were talked about made me think of so many possibilities this project had to offer. We all came up with a hot sauce box but with different functions that made eveyone's boxes unique.
